Getting Started with an Email Connection

Follow along to get up and running with the email API, Sift.

1. Create a Sift Account

Visit the Sift home page and select the Sign Up option. Enter your information and complete the registration process.

2. Find your Developer Keys

Once you’ve signed in to your new account, select Account Info from the navigation on the left, then select Reveal Credentials to show your API Key and API Secret.

3. Setup Your OAuth

Select your email connection, then follow the steps to register a Developer Account, create a new App or Client ID, and obtain your Client ID and Client Secret for the next step.

  1. Register for a Google Developer Account and create a new Project, if not done already.

  2. Enable Google+ API and Gmail API for your project.

  3. Create a new Client ID with the following settings:

    • Application type: Web Application

    • Authorized JavaScript origins: blank

    • Redirect URIs: https://api.easilydo.com/v1/connect_email/gmail_callback

  4. Copy the generated Client ID and the Client Secret.

  1. Register for a Yahoo Developer Account, if not done already.

  2. Create a new App with the following settings:

    • Access Scopes: This app requires access to private user data.

    • Callback Domain: https://api.easilydo.com

    • Select APIs for private user data access: Mail Web Service - Read/Write (Full Access)

  3. Copy the generated Client ID and the Client Secret.

  1. Register for a Live Developer Account, if not done already.

  2. Create a new App with the following settings:

    • Redirect URLs: https://api.easilydo.com

  3. Copy the generated Client ID and the Client Secret.

4. Enable Connections

Once you have your Client ID and Client Secret from your Developer Account, return to your Sift account to enter this information. Select Settings from the navigation on the left, then find your email account. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret from your Developer Account in either Hotmail, Yahoo! or Gmail.

5. Download a Sample Project File

Click the blue "Download Project File" button on this page.

6. Enter a Callback URL

While still in Settings, scroll to the top of the screen and enter the URL where you’d like to receive your results when the discovery server finds data from a connected email account.

7. Go to Your Dashboard

Go to your dashboard to continue managing your account.
